The Controversy on GunLaws

The Controversy on Gun Laws

There is currently a lot of discussion in Washington and across the United States regarding policies pertaining to guns. The vice president recently spoke about executive orders that the president would like to implement, in order to inforce more laws regarding purchasing and owning had guns. This has been a widely debated issue between republicans, who want less gun laws, and democrats, who want more gun laws, but the recent shooting in Newton, has once again braught it to the forefront.

I would just like to say that anytime a president uses an executive order to by pass congress, I take issue with it regardless of what it is that they are trying to pass. That being said I think that this initiative by the president is wrong. The problem that I have is that it is not logical to blame an onject for an action. If this is the case then we should ban all cars, because people kill others when they choose to drive drunk. Killings can happen with all sorts of objects, guns just happen to be the weapon of choice, and it is not fair to take away from the law abiding majority, to pay for the sins of the minority.

The other thing that really bothers me about this is the collective punishment aspect of it. This administration tends to view people not as individules but as a collective. Take wealth for an example if not everyone can attain wealth then no one should be able to, in their minds. Samething with guns if some people are too irresponsible to own them, then everyone is. This is the controversy with this issue, democrats believe that if we take away the guns then we are making it harder for people to kill, and therfore less mass shootings will occur, while the republicans believe that taking away the guns will only insure that law abiding citizens will not be able to defend themselves. This is a controversey that has divided many, and will continue to do so as long as men are sinful and find ways to commit crime.

Hey Its Me

Hey,
My name is Samantha Scinicariello, I am a freshman telecommuncations and media studies major at Texas A&M. My interests professionally as you might exepect are in the media field. I would love to be able to work in either radio or television as a show host. My interest is in political commentary. I would love to be able to do something along those lines so that I can express my opinions and thoughts on things that interest me with others. If I could not be on TV or radio writing for an online newspaper or soemthing in that field would be great as well. This blog is going to express whatever is on my mind at that minute. It might be random at times, but it will always reflect current things in the world, and share my perspective on them. This will be a laid back and easy it may not always be perfect or agreeable, but it will be light and focued on current events and news stories. Yeah!
